Students learn how to think divergently by working as a team to solve an open-ended problem.
As part of the Odyssey of the Mind program, students also learn creativity, innovation, problem-solving, critical thinking, global awareness, interpersonal and collaborative communication skills, self-directions and adaptability.
The role of the Region 7 Odyssey of the Mind service is to instruct school coaches about the program, train volunteers to judge the competition and produce the annual regional tournament.
Membership in the state and national organizations is required for participation in this service.
Regional first-place champions are eligible for the state competition; state champions are eligible for the world competition.
