Description Hideaway Circus is seeking DRIVERS / STAGE CREW to join their open-air touring summer circus Canvas Sky. The roustabouts work closely with the Production Manager and act as labor for efficient, safe setup, maintenance for the traveling circus. The 2024 tour includes travel with the circus throughout the East Coast and Southern United States. Start Date: ASAP Rehearsal & Tech Schedule: May 13, 2024 – May 31, 2024 Performance Schedule: June 1, 2024 – Feb 2, 2024. Weekly Fee: $750 – $1,000 per week Employment Type: Contract – Non Union – Touring Employee How to Apply: Hideaway Circus is now hiring for the roles of Roustabout (STAGE HAND / DRIVER). Duties & Responsibilities for Roustabout: Safely load and unload equipment during set-up and tear down at each site. Act as security and help with audience management during performances to ensure the safety and comfort of attendees. Drive a company truck or vehicle between towns, ensuring the safe transportation of equipment and crew members. Assist in the operation and maintenance of sound and lighting equipment during shows, including setting up staging, lights, speakers, and other equipment as needed. Troubleshoot any issues that arise during shows and coordinate with other crew members to resolve them efficiently. Work closely with other crew members, such as the lighting technician and stagehands, to ensure that all aspects of the show are coordinated smoothly.

Skills Needed:
Friendly and professional attitude, able to work on schedule and under pressure. Strong teamwork and communication skills to effectively collaborate with other crew members and performers. Basic understanding of sound and lighting systems, as well as familiarity with various stage equipment, rigging, and tools. Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the performance schedule. Problem-solving skills to address and troubleshoot issues that arise during setup, performances, and tear-downs. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for operating company vehicles. Physical Demands: Work involves standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, and other physical activities consistent with setting up heavy equipment. Work may include lifting, carrying, or moving objects and equipment weighing over 50 pounds.
