Programming for high school students
The Capital Region Career & Technical Education Center – Schoharie Campus, is a career and technical school operated by the Capital Region BOCES. The campus celebrated its 50th year of operation in October 2022, having prepared for five decades students from Albany, Schoharie and Schenectady counties for success in careers ranging from chefs to nurses, equipment operators and mechanics.
The Schoharie campus offers high school students seven educational programs, including college-credit-bearing courses.
About Our Facilities
Students learn in classrooms that feature the latest technology and equipment for each career and technical program, and faculty and staff who are experts in their fields, creating an excellent learning environment.
From heavy equipment simulators to a fully functioning hair salon, students operate in a technologically appropriate setting that prepares them for in-demand careers now, as well as careers that will be in high demand in the future.
Learning Extends Beyond the Campus
Field trips and visits, job shadowing, internships and paid employment experiences give our students an edge in careers and college. The Capital Region Career & Technical Education Center partners with local business and industry to offer such opportunities, and employers from our region help us design programs to meet the changing demands of today’s workplace.
These partnerships often lead to employment opportunities post-high school and even while the students remain in school.
They also allow students to professionally network and build relationships in the industries of their choice.
