Following are scholarship opportunities available to students attending our Career and Technical School programs. Please note the requirements and application dates for each.
Albany Campus
TRALA Scholarship Program
$5,000. Open to all Transportation program students who are pursuing a further education in the technician or truck transportation industry. Learn more about this scholarship.
American Welding Association/AWS
$500 Open to all senior Welding program students with enthusiasm and motivated in the welding trade.
Bryant and Stratton I Believe in You Scholarship
Tuition award for (2) students attending and accepted at Bryant & Stratton, $1000 each. Open to students in all programs. Candidate(s) must have successfully completed their CTE program and fulfilled all employability profile expectations. Tuition award for two students attending and accepted at Bryant & Stratton.
Evan M. Schwarz Helping Hand Scholarship
$500. Given to a high school senior or Adult Welding student who has enthusiasm for welding and displays the following characteristics: Motivation, Team Player, Hard Worker and Professionalism.
Growth in Achievement
Open to students in all programs. Growth in Achievement Awarded to one student in each program. This is a non-monetary award.
Highest Average
Open to students in all programs. Highest Average Awarded to one student in each program. This is a non-monetary award.
Joseph N. Fuchs Award
Open to students in all programs. Awarded to a student who has overcome significant barriers to his/her education to become successful in a career and technical program. This is a non-monetary award.
Outstanding Career Portfolio Award
Open to students in all programs. Awarded to a student whose career portfolio demonstrates the highest technical and professional standards based on the portfolio rubric. This is a non-monetary award.
Outstanding Student of the Year
Open to students in all programs. This $250 award from the Capital Region BOCES Faculty Association is for a student who has demonstrated outstanding growth in achievement, citizenship and pride.

Open to students in all programs. Awarded to one student in each program. This is a non-monetary award.
SAANYS Family Member Scholarship Region 6
$500. This award is available to students who are children of SAANYS members, based on scholarship, citizenship, and leadership qualities. It may be awarded to more than one student per school.
SAANYS Scholarship Region 6
$500. This “All One” award is available to any student whose administrator is a SAANYS member, based on scholarship, citizenship, and leadership qualities.
SkillsUSA – Act Now: National Career and Technical Scholarship Program
$2,500. Open to all high-school graduates who are currently or soon pursuing postsecondary CTE studies. By completing a simple 45-minute application, students will be considered for one of 510 scholarships being awarded on a rolling basis.
SkillsUSA – Horatio Alger National Career & Technical Scholarship Program
$2,500. Open to all Skills USA seniors. Awarded to students who exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States; who have demonstrated critical financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA); who have demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity; who are under age 30. Simple 45-minute application required. 510 scholarships being awarded on a rolling basis.
SkillsUSA – Sharon Melton Myers Memorial Scholarship
$500. Open to all Skills USA seniors. Awarded in memory of Sharon Melton Myers to provide graduating high school students with the opportunity to continue their education in college or technical school.
SkillsUSA – National Technical Honor Society Scholarship
Four $1,000 scholarships. Awarded to SkillsUSA students in pursuit of higher education or certification in their chosen field. The National Technical Honor Society has a mission to honor student achievement and leadership, promote educational excellence, and enhance career opportunities for technical students.
SkillsUSA – Alumni and Friends Merit Scholarship
$500. Open to all current SkillsUSA members who will be attending a college/postsecondary school in 2021-22. Scholarship applicants will be judged on the following criteria:
- Essay 1. Leadership within SkillsUSA at the local, state or national level
- Essay 2. Commitment to service to his or her community
- Essay 3. Advocating for career and technical education
- Résumé. One page
- The nominee’s progress through the Professional Development Program (PDP) or Career Skills Education Program (CSEP), with verification
- Two letters of recommendation
SkillsUSA STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Scholarship
$1000-multiple. Open to all SkillsUSA seniors whose area of study will lead them into a STEM-related field. Scholarships will be awarded through a competitive application process. The STEM Fund was established to raise public awareness that career and technical education an integral part of STEM. (STEM refers to a curriculum educating students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
Schoharie Campus
American Red Cross Scholarship Award
Open to all Schoharie CTE students. Awarded to Capital Region BOCES student volunteer or donor of the American Red Cross Association.

Construction/Heavy Equipment Advisory Board Scholarship
$500-$1000. Open to seniors enrolled in Commercial Residential Construction/ Heavy Equipment. Student must exemplify commitment, leadership, professionalism and have an excellent work ethic. Must be enrolled in a trade school or college related to their CTE program, enlisted in the military or employed in their trade.

$150. Open to students in the Commercial Construction Heavy Equipment program. Awarded to a student who has shown great improvement and maintained a positive attitude.
Schoharie Valley Region AACA
Two awards, $350 each. Open to students in the Automotive programs. Awarded to students who are going to higher education /work and pursuing a career in the automotive field. Must be nominated by their instructor.
