Capital Region BOCES will host an online seminar on Thursday, May 9 for individuals interested in the burgeoning renewable energy industry.
The 45-minute event begins at 1 p.m. To register visit https://shorturl.at/epQY7.
During the online seminar, attendees will learn about the Offshore Wind Career Pathway program that prepares students for careers in the offshore wind industry.
The tuition-free workforce training program allows adults an opportunity to give their futures a breath of fresh air and chart a new course for professional success.
Funded through a $1.25 million grant to BOCES, the New York State Energy Research & Development Agency (NYSERDA) and the United Way, the Offshore Wind Career Pathway program is designed to expedite New York’s 10-Point Action Plan to expand its thriving large-scale renewable industry.
Students can learn welding, electrical trades or building trades because those skills apply to the renewable energy industry.
“Our NYSERDA funded Offshore Wind training programs introduce the foundational elements of the renewable energy field to students while also preparing them for jobs in the skilled trades of welding, electrical trades and construction,” said Mike Markou, Adult Education Program Manager at Capital Region BOCES.
“The importance of our pre-apprenticeship training programs are critical to opening pathways to people from diverse backgrounds. These pathways help folks find meaningful careers that lead to economic prosperity for themselves, their families and traditionally underserved communities.”
