The Capital Region BOCES student art exhibit is back in person, for its 36th year, following a five-year hiatus. Featuring 238 pieces from 64 school buildings across 10 local districts, including 3 BOCES schools, the show opened with an in-person reception on Tuesday, April 1, in the Atrium of the NYSUT Headquarters.

“This year we have something to celebrate. It’s an opportunity to uplift students and highlight arts in the community,” said Annesley Gersztoff, Library & Arts Program Manager. The sentiment echoes the collective excitement surrounding the show, which represents a collaborative effort from Bethlehem, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, Cohoes, Duanesburg, Niskayuna, North Colonie, Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, Schalmont, Schenectady, and Scotia-Glenville school districts.
The exhibition showcases the artwork of students from districts participating in the Arts in Education Service, and those enrolled in the Capital Region BOCES Airline, Maywood, and Virtual (CVLA) Academies. A celebration of student talent, teacher dedication and the enduring power of the arts to enrich our community, this exhibition is a testament to the belief that the arts are a vital component of a well-rounded education.
The success of this exhibition is attributed to the collaborative spirit of numerous individuals and organizations. Special thanks are extended to the participating school districts and their dedicated teachers, whose unwavering support made the show possible. BOCES Arts & Enrichment Program Coordinator, Anne Skrebutenas, planned and coordinated the return of the in-person show, and was provided invaluable guidance and encouragement from Anne Manzella, K-12 Supervisor for Art, North Colonie school district. A special acknowledgement goes to NYSUT, especially John Kleinsorge, for hosting this event and also to Robyn Cross, Art Teacher from Schenectady City School District, who helped to hang the show.
The 36th Annual Student Art Show is on display until April 25, 9am-7pm, at NYSUT Headquarters, 800 Troy Schenectady Rd. Latham, NY. The public is welcome to stop by and see the talent of area students on display.
