This award recognizes staff who go the Extra Mile by making a significant positive contribution to the Capital Region BOCES community and who exemplify all of our guiding commitments throughout their work. Recipients are nominated and awards are given out annually at our staff Opening Day celebration.

Alisha was selected as the recipient of the prestigious Extra Mile Award for her remarkable leadership and positive impact. This recognition is a reflection of Alisha’s significant contributions to the Transportation Department.

Joining transportation in 2020 as a part-time bus attendant, Alisha quickly distinguished herself as someone who is willing to step up and do what is necessary to keep the department humming. After temporarily filling an assistant position, she moved into that role full time and demonstrated there are no limits to what can be done.

Playing a key role in streamlining department processes, Alisha has effectively worked to improve department efficiency while also boosting morale. She genuinely cares about others and is willing to help, without fail. In fact, she has voluntarily organized food and clothing drives to benefit others.

Whatever task she is facing, Alisha meets it with a cheerful demeanor, always greeting district staff, families and co-workers with a warm and welcoming smile. She makes a real difference to all she encounters, even making district parents feel at ease when their children start school for the first time.

“Alisha is a person of many talents, she has shown exceptional leadership abilities and provided much-needed stability amidst staff changes,” said Rich. “Co-workers, district staff and families all deeply appreciate and value her contributions. She has shown growth like you wouldn’t believe.”

It is with great pride that we congratulate Alisha Williams for being recognized with the Extra Mile Award. Her attitude and dedication to going above and beyond truly epitomize the spirit of this honor.
