In less than a year, adults in the Capital Region could gain the training needed to enter a career with significant job growth projections.
Registration is underway now for the Capital Region BOCES Adult Health Careers and Services full-time Practical Nursing program which starts in September.

The state-approved Practical Nursing program encompasses 1,100 hours of classroom and clinical study and practice. Students earn their clinical experience in every major local healthcare facility, including Albany Medical Center, St. Peter’s Hospital, Ellis Hospital and nursing facilities in the tri-city area.
Classes are held at the Career & Technical Education Center – Albany Campus, located at 925B Watervliet-Shaker Road in Albany (Colonie). Classes will conclude in June 2026

Class of 2024 graduate Iesha Fallen said she felt well prepared for the profession after completing the program.
“Capital Region BOCES gave us everything to be successful. My daughters and I are now ready for new opportunities,” she said.
Oluwafunmilade Alim, who, along with husband, Austin, graduated from the program in 2024, praised the faculty and staff for their dedication to students.
“The Adult Practical Nursing teachers were always there for us as far as they came down to our level in order to communicate with us,” she said.
Graduates of the program are prepared to enter one of the fastest-growing and most in-demand job markets in the nation. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects demand for LPNs will grow 3% by 2033 with nearly 17,000 new jobs. That, coupled with the fact that LPNs earned a median salary nationally in 2023 of $59,730, makes it the right time to enter this exciting field.
