Training & Certification for Adults
Get the education, training and experience you need to earn valuable national certifications and prepare for rewarding positions and/or career advancement in the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) fields. The HVAC program for adults is approved by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
Units of Study and Certifications Earned
This 450-hour course includes:
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-hour Safety Course
Includes introduction to OSHA, safety standards, electrical, fall protection, personal protection, scaffolding, stairways and ladders, hand and power tools. - Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC)
Includes gas heat, oil heat, air conditioning. - Electrical
- Residential Low Pressure Boilers
- Refrigeration
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 608 Certification
- Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing (CSST) Certification
Students Learn
- Construction math
- Job-seeking skills, including resume writing and interviewing

Learning Environment
The program is taught at the Capital Region BOCES Career & Technical School at 925B Watervliet-Shaker Rd. in Albany, in a 3,150 square-foot, state-of-the art classroom and lab featuring:
- A seated instruction area for lecture, reading, writing, problem-solving, and for instruction via technology such as an interactive SmartBoard, LCD projector and video.

- Puron R410A AC systems
- Condensing gas-fired wall-hung boilers
