Value
- Hundreds of prospective Career and Technical School students attend 2023-24 recruitment events.
- Nearly 1,000 home educated students and their families supported this school year by our ESS/Home Instruction team.
- 45 Odyssey of the Mind teams, with an “assist” from BOCES volunteers, showcased creative problem solving in this year’s in-person tourney.
- First ever BOCES-led career fair for educators creates pipeline to meaningful work in schools.
Excellence
- Grant funding secured from BOCES partner Regeneron makes summer STEM learning a reality for dozens of area middle schoolers.
- Congrats Vocational Case Manager Michael Stratton, recognized with a commitment award for excellence in support of students and the BOCES community.
- School-based mental health clinic–supported by BOCES and its partner Northern Rivers–lauded as model of innovation by NYS Gov. Kathy Hochul.
- Digital Media Design students Evan Agan, Kaylee Marrano and Lillian Sweeney honored as Students of the Year for electric vehicle social media campaign.
Improvement
- 65+ staff gained new skills in AI as a teaching tool, cybersecurity, all things Google and more during NERIC’s recent PD Day.
- New art installation adds a “pop” of color, honors Maywood Academy history.
- 800+ area four-year-olds in six districts will benefit from a recent $3 million grant win to fund Universal Pre-K expansion.
- Construction continues, readying CTE Schoharie campus for new and improved programming next school year.
Leadership
- Dozens of women–from high schoolers interested in the skilled trades to industry pros–celebrated accomplishments and offered inspiration at kick-off to Women in the Trades Month.
- Dozens of business, education, state and community partners celebrate CTE Month and the many benefits of career and technical education for students.
- Management Services team leads districts in their drive toward fully electric bus fleets by 2035.
- Nearly 800 people learn in School Library Services offering how AI can enhance and expand library services and supports
