Capital Region BOCES seeks to solve shortage of education professionals in area schools with major career fair on Monday

Interested in making a change in the lives of children while working a child-friendly schedule? Consider a career in education!

Capital Region BOCES is hosting the Professions in Education Career Fair and Employer Showcase at The Desmond Hotel located at 660 Albany-Shaker Road in Albany on Monday, March 18.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Whether an experienced professional or a recent graduate, this career fair is for you. Representatives from more than 40 school districts and BOCES from throughout the Capital Region and beyond will be on hand recruiting to fill immediate openings for teachers, teaching assistants, administrative assistants, nurses, bus drivers, mechanics, IT professionals, food service workers, building and ground staff and more.

Networking opportunities and on-site interviews will be offered, along with Civil Service information, professional headshots, and guidance on how to become certified in your profession.

Besides opportunities to meet with employers and be informed, the Professions in Education Career Fair and Employer Showcase also provides educational opportunities for job seekers.

Breakout sessions are scheduled throughout the day featuring educational presentations followed by 30 minutes that are reserved for questions.

The schedule of sessions are as follows:
• 9:30 – 10 am: Drive a Bus
• 10 – 11 am: Becoming a Substitute Teacher, Certification for NYS Teaching Positions, Drive a Bus
• 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.: Civil Service 101, Enhancing Your LinkedIn Profile, Drive a Bus
• 12 – 1 p.m.: Creating Your RecruitFront Profile, Cybersecurity in Education, Drive a Bus
• 1– 2 p.m.: Becoming a Substitute Teacher, Certification for NYS Teaching Positions, Drive a Bus
• 2 – 3 p.m.: Civil Service 101, Enhancing Your LinkedIn Profile
• 3 – 4 p.m.: Creating Your RecruitFront Profile, Cybersecurity in Education
