Diesel Technology

Albany Campus

Diesel Tech students work on late-model trucks and diesel engines to gain knowledge and experience. They learn electrical and electronic theory, which they apply to computerized control systems used on today’s trucks. Students also learn how to service and maintain steering, suspension, chassis and braking systems and are taught about alternative fuels and hybrid vehicles, as well as air conditioning recovery and recycling service procedures.

Recipient of the Associated Equipment Distributors Foundation Five-year Certificate of Excellence, the program provides students completing it with the chance to earn ASE/EPA 609, SP/2, Hunter Engineering and ASE certifications. Students can also earn the following credentials: Automotive Lift Institute – Lifting it Right: School Edition, WD-40: Cleaning, Storage, and Maintenance of Tools and Equipment, Valvoline: Motor Oil 101, Daimler Trucks North America: Heavy-Duty Truck Terminology 101.

Diesel Tech at Career & Tech is the only high school-level program in the state to earn certification by the National Automotive Technician Education Foundation/Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.
