Substitute Applicants for Substitute Teacher and/or Teacher Assistant

(Teacher assistants for Capital Region BOCES, Cobleskill-Richmondville, Cohoes, Duanesburg, Green Island, Niskayuna, North Colonie, Schalmont, South Colonie and Voorheesville)

 

Appointment tips

arrow bulletAppointments are necessary for interview, paperwork review and system orientation. All will take about 60 to 90 minutes.

arrow bulletInterviews can be scheduled by calling (518) 464-3907 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

arrow bulletCasual business attire is appropriate.

arrow bulletAppointments are at Capital Region BOCES, Suite 102, 900 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Albany, NY 12205. [DIRECTIONS]

arrow bulletVisitor parking spaces are located opposite the main entrance in the front of the building. Check in with the BOCES receptionist upon your arrival.

arrow bulletDial 3926 on the telephone in the BOCES lobby if the receptionist is not at her desk.

 

Please bring the following to your appointment:

arrow bulletCompleted application. Signature(s) are required.

arrow bulletEducational preparation: 2011-2012 pay rates and minimum requirements (PDF) and 2011-2012 district information (PDF). The highest level of the following should be provided:

bulletA) copy of certification

bulletB) bachelor's degree, official transcript with graduation date

bulletC) associate's degree, official transcript with 60 credit hours is acceptable

bulletD) high school diploma, if applying as a teacher assistant

arrow bulletReferences; either:

bulletTwo letters of reference written within the past two years (student teaching evaluations are acceptable) OR

bulletConfidential College file; Note, having a Confidential College file will reduce processing time

arrow bulletCompleted payroll forms (I-9, W-4, IT-2104)

arrow bulletProper identification (SS card and driver's license OR passport) for Employee Eligibility (I-9) form

 

Note: fingerprinting/criminal history records search is required to work in New York state schools

arrow bulletPrints previously taken for preschools, daycare or bus driving are not accepted.

arrow bulletThe OSPRA Web site has details.

arrow bulletIf already fingerprinted for the NYSED teacher database, you will be given an OSPRA 102 form to complete in our office. No fee is required.

arrow bulletIf fingerprints are needed, have them processed through Capital Region BOCES.
