Substitute
teachers need proof of associate's degree, bachelor's degree,
license or certification, depending on the school district.
Teacher
assistants need proof of high school diploma, a GED diploma, AAS
diploma or a NYS Teaching Assistant Certificate, depending on the
district.
Nurses
need an RN license and current CPR training.
All
applicants need:
Proof
of identity and employment eligibility.
The
ability to get along with adults and students.
The
ability to follow direction and lesson plans.
The
ability to employ classroom management for a safe, respectful
environment.
Transportation
to schools.
A
touch tone telephone or access to the Internet.

To become a substitute teacher, nurse and/or teacher assistant, applicants need to:

brought to the interview appointment — no applications are accepted
by mail.
Note,
new security watermarks on transcripts are making it hard for
districts to read them. (These background marks appear when we must
copy the documents.) Consequently, if you're not teacher-certified,
please bring your college diploma if possible.

Teacher assistant substitutes are booked through our service for ten districts: Capital Region BOCES,
Cobleskill-Richmondville, Cohoes, Duanesburg, Green Island, Niskayuna, North Colonie, Schalmont, South Colonie and
Voorheesville. All other districts' teacher assistant subs are
booked directly by the districts.
