In addition to Asbestos Trainings and Online HazCom training, Health/Safety/Risk Management is currently offering the following workshops:
|
| Health/Safety/Risk Management offers a variety of workshops year-round, including this lead training course. |
Non-Instructional Supervisor Training
Most supervisors in non-instructional positions (maintenance, food
service, transportation) receive little if any formal training in
basic management principles. To address that need we worked with
component administrators to launch this series of workshops. While
our first workshop provided an overview on many management topics,
this year’s class will get to the heart of the one topic that last
year’s participants were most excited about: Conflict Resolution.
Kathy Martin, Manager of BOCES CAPIT (Comprehensive Approaches to Prevention, Intervention and Training) Program will provide hands-on experience that gives you the tools and methods to resolve conflicts in your workplace professionally.

Reasonable Suspicion Training
Based on Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations
(Part 49 Section 382), employers shall require a bus driver to
submit to alcohol and/or controlled substance testing when the
employer has a reasonable suspicion to believe that the driver has
violated federal alcohol and/or controlled substance prohibitions.
This section further requires that persons designated to determine
“reasonable suspicion” must receive a minimum of two (2) hours of
training in the “physical, behavioral, speech, and performance
indicators of probable alcohol misuse and use of controlled
substances.”
This Reasonable Suspicion Training
fulfills this federal requirement, and is also an excellent
refresher.
Who should attend? School District Administrators, Transportation Supervisors and any others who are responsible for Controlled Substance and Alcohol Use & Testing.

8-Hour Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Training
The
EPA now requires that school maintenance staff and contractors
performing renovation, repair and painting
projects that disturb
lead-based paint in child-occupied facilities built before 1978
follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination. Under
the new law, lead
projects must be performed and/or directed by an
individual who has become a Certified Renovator by successfully
completing an RRP training course given by an EPA-approved training
provider. This workshop is offered based on
demand. Please contact Kristin Bucciferro,
Program Manager, at
