Our staff is specially trained to help superintendents, building principals, school nurses, classroom teachers and facilities staff develop proactive approaches to health, safety, and environmental regulatory compliance. Staff offer a comprehensive school safety program dedicated to motivating the entire school community to minimize hazards and unsafe practices. The service can provide a District Safety Specialist or Coordinator to work in your school to handle matters of compliance with regulatory agencies’ requirements and develop health, safety and risk management programs integrated into your district’s daily operations. Participating districts also receive newsletters and workshop opportunities designed to keep key district personnel informed about important and emerging issues and trends in school-related
health & safety and risk management. Programs and assistance are available in the following areas:

Further assistance can also be provided, at an additional charge, in the following areas:

arrow bulletAED (Defibrillator) Training—Districts must identify which employees will be trained in the use of AEDs and select and approved training provider. This service can coordinate AED/CPR (adult and pediatric) initial and refresher training with approved training providers.

arrow bulletChemical Disposals—Staff can assist districts in obtaining cost estimates from certified waste disposal companies and arrange for proper disposal. Districts are responsible for paying for the disposal.

arrow bulletRadon—The NY State Education Dept. RESCUE regulation requires districts to be aware of the geological potential for high levels of radon and to test for and mitigate as appropriate. BOCES can assist with radon testing.
