Nursing is a recession-proof career
Health care careers are recession-proof. Entrance
exams are now being held for the Capital Region BOCES'part-time/evening-study
Practical Nursing (PN) for Adult Students program, which begins on
November 22 at the Health Careers Center of the Capital Region BOCES
Career & Technical School,
501 New Karner Rd., Colonie.
Classes for the part-time PN program meet for 18 months and
accommodate adult learners’ busy schedules. To enroll, individuals
must have a high school diploma or GED and pass an entrance exam.
Tuition is $10,464. Call (518) 862-4709 to sign up for an exam, take
a free test-prep class or for further information.
Entrance exams are held at the BOCES Health Careers Center every
Monday from 11a.m. – 2 p.m. and Wednesday at 3 – 6 p.m. A free test
prep class is offered every other Monday from 4 – 6 p.m.
The part-time Practical Nursing for Adult Students program meets
Monday through Thursday from 3 - 7 p.m. for the first four months,
and then Monday and Wednesday from 3 – 7 p.m., with a choice of
clinical instruction time on either Thursdays from 2:30 - 10:30
p.m., or Fridays from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The program encompasses 1,100 hours of classroom and clinical
instruction, and upon completion, students are eligible to take the
National Council Licensure exam and apply for state licensure as a
Licensed Practical Nurse. The Practical Nursing program also
prepares students to advance their nursing education.
